The Sweet Hollywaiians - Milenberg Joys

One of the pleasures of doing Dreamtime is that I never know what's going to show up in the ol' email box. Back from a Memorial Day trip, I found an email from a Nobumasa Takada, one of the members of The Sweet Hollywaiians, a group that plays music in the tradition of of the 1920s and 1930s, as well as Hawaiian tunes. swing, calypso, and even Italian songs. The other band members are Tomotaka Matsui, Takashi Nakayama and Kouichi Tsutsumishita.

The Sweet Hollywaiians sound as if they'd fit comfortably into any Theme Time play list, and are worth your attention if you're a fan of sweet, hot jazz. Nobumasa noted in his email that they recently played with Tom Marion, of the Cheap Suit Serenaders, and that the band will have their first CD out at the beginning of July. More information (mostly in Japanese) at The Sweet Hollywaiians home page.
